New Faith Baptist Church 5512 Marshall Rd. Spencer Oklahoma 73084 God in His infinite wisdom has deemed it wise and best to remove from our church and community our beloved pastor, Reverend Leon Pettis Sr. This is the last tribute of love and respect to Pastor Pettis who passed on to the sweet beyond on Aug 1, 2014. He was full of hope and anticipation of the future, but while man proposes, God disposes. He will be missed in the church, in the home, and in the community. We as a church deem it our duty to record our high appreciation of the noble character and excellent qualities of Pastor Pettis. Pastor Pettis was one of the most respected men we have ever known. Pastor Pettis was very faithful in his support of the New Faith Baptist Church Pastor and members. Pastor Pettis came and preached his pastors appreciation along with the church he pastored every year for the last 18 years. The entire congregation of the New Faith Church was assured of Pastor Pettis support of all ministry events, Visiting the sick and shut-in members was a given for Pastor and Sister Pettis. We are saddened by our loss, but at the same time we bow in thankfulness that he is free from the cares of this world and shall ever remain in our memory. He manifested the highest Christian and honorable character. He was not only an able and faithful pastor, but also an honest man-“the noblest works of God.” Death has plucked a bright ornament from our midst and we bow in humble submission to the will of Divine Providence in calling to a better, purer, and happier world one that passed amid the storms and contests of life to a ripe age, without any stain or mark of disapprobation upon his professional, moral, and religious character. That in the death of Pastor Pettis our community and church has lost a member whose commanding talents, moral excellence, and strict integrity were of a higher order; and that we will cherish a remembrance of his many virtues as a beacon of light in our pathway to life and worthy of our best imitation. We extend our heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to Sister Shirley Pettis, and family the United Baptist church family, and commend them to Him who alone can give the healing balm under such afflictive dispensations. We pray for them, for the loss they feel will not easily be filled. Let us not soon forget this departed servant of the ministry, but let us try to imitate his example in all things, that we too, when God shall summon us before his pulpit, have a record like his, pure and untarnished. Our church membership loved Pastor Pettis and family and will feel a loss every time we gather that will not easily pass. We can only take comfort in knowing he now has a home with the Lord and Savior. In the spirit of humbleness, New Faith Baptist Church Joe W Hollins Pastor Joe Robinson Chairman, Board of Deacons

May you feel his loving presence. I am going to miss my pastor very very much. Pastor Pettis has been my pastor since 2008. I remember visisting his church with my Aunt Veddie. At this time I was praying that God/Jesus would send me to a church home that would teach me about Christ and how to live like Christ. My first visit I felt the love Pastor Petties had during praise and worship and when a lady song a solo of Amazing Grace. Ever since then United Baptist became my church home and where I was very first baptized. Pastor and Mother Pettis taught me how to love like Christ and forgiveness and the things I didnt understand about the word, Pastor Pettis would always break it down where I could understand Christ commandment. Pastor taught with love and would correct with love. I am going to miss him so much but I know he will always be watching over us. Mother Pettis my heart is out to you. I love you and you will alway be my second mother. You have also gave me alot of widsom and knowledge about Christ and for that I cant thank you enough.

Cato, Sr. Church Number (309)297-4486 Fax Number (309)297-4486 August 6, 2014 To the family of Pastor Leon Pettis. Once again we find ourselves bowed down in humble submission to the divine will of almighty God. Be assured that the passing of your loved one was his will and that all things done by him are not to be doubted even through we don’t understand. We hope that these few words will comfort you in the tomorrow’s to come. There is promise in each sunrise. There is hope for each new day; There’s a sunbeam for each raindrop, There is help along the way. There is faith for all life’s problems, There is strength for the trials you face, There is mercy and compassion, Even in life’s darkest place. That makes all life’s sorrows dim. When you place your hand in God’s hand, And walk life’s path with him. We, the Pastor and Members know that he will be missed. Respectfully Submitted Pastor Jerry L Cato Sr. Church Clerk Annette Cato
