Special notations: Mr. Philander William Glover was born December 11, 1929 in Chandler, Oklahoma to Mr. Henry Clay and Joanna J. Glover. Philander was one of eleven children. He graduated from Douglass High School in Chandler, OK. Philander served for a short time in Army and was honorably discharged after his father passed. He returned home to help his mother with his younger siblings. Philander attended college at Langston University and Oklahoma City University. In the early 50’s, he spent his early working career at Tinker AFB where he met the love of his life, John Evelyn Nunley. They were married December 1, 1956. To this union three children were born (Joan, Patrick, and Kimella). In the mid 60’s, he was transferred to Federal Aviation Administration where he served many years and was awarded numerous promotions. He worked at FAA until he retired in 1985, last serving as an Electronic Technician. Philander accepted Christ at an early age, and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church in 1985. He served on the audio and tape ministry till his health failed. His mission in life was to help as many people as he could. He was kind towards everyone, a friend to his neighbors and never met a stranger. Most importantly, Philander Glover was a Servant of God and served him faithfully. He was quiet man but his silence was his strength. Although he did not say much, he guided his family through his actions. He often said and believed that “actions speaks louder than words”. Philander was an outstanding Son, Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather…he was a “provider extraordinaire” for his family. He carried and guided his siblings, children, and grandchildren till God called him home. He always wanted nothing less than happiness for his family. Honest, dependable, trustworthy, innovative, provider, leader and spiritual guide are a few words that depict his character. He fell asleep and drifted away early Friday morning…”Good Friday”, April 3, 2015 to be with his Lord and Savior. His memories will be cherished. Preceding Philander in death was his precious wife, John Evelyn Glover and daughter Joan “Joni” Glover. He was the last surviving male of his siblings and leaves to cherish his memory four sisters (Ruby, Phyllis, Juanita, and Margaret); one son Patrick W. Glover; two daughters Kimella D. Glover and Loretta Glover; one God Daughter, Debra Johnson; six grandchildren, Jaisa S. Glover, Autumn L. Johns, Tanisha DeBaca, Everette Smith, Lamont Hendrix, and Ashley Johnson; four great grandchildren, Khalil J. Norwood, Thailand L. Johns, Talaia DeBaca, and Senna DeBaca; one sister-in-law, Gloria Abram along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
