Biography

Mother: Saundra K. Ladd

Father: Darryl Ladd

Special notations: DAVID LADD’S LIFE STORY Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2) In Miami, Florida on January 30, 1992 (ahead of schedule), Darryl and Saundra Ladd welcomed their youngest baby, David Anthony Ladd, born at 26 weeks and weighing 1 lb 10oz. David was born struggling and hence he was named David – for the warrior within and to win life’s battles. In 2003, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and subsequently received the gift of the Holy Ghost. David was educated in the Fairfax, Virginia School District where he graduated in 2010 from Fairfax High School. Although David was small in stature, he was competitive and excelled in several sports – including baseball, football, and track where he ultimately broke several county and regional records in Virginia and was a 3-year letterman in Track & Field. While a 10th grader, a local news outlet in Washington D.C. took note of David’s skills and enquired and did a special sports story on how such a small runner could consistently “knock off giants” on the track. After the story was carried, the station received multiple requests to re-air it and a longer version of the story was later aired. His athletic skills secured him a spot on the NJCAA Championship track team at Southern Plains College in Levelland, Texas. David often referred to the track as his “office.” After leaving South Plains College, David continued his college studies at Brookhaven Community College (Dallas, Texas) and Collin County Community College (Plano, Texas) where he pursued his passion of Culinary Arts. David was an excellent cook and was very meticulous and creative in the kitchen. He was always “all smiles”. You couldn’t look at him very long without him handing you a smiling face. No matter what David was facing, he was always helping others. His aunt mentioned how he would call his cousin to help him get on the right path. He even wrote out a plan and delivered it to his house. He loved his cousins, and they loved him. David surely acquired some attributes from his grandfather, the Late Suffragan Bishop Art Ladd, Sr, as well as his own parents in helping others. On July 1, 2021, God called David home to a better track and field – one paved with gold where he will never get tired of running. David will be remembered not only for his talent, but for his kind and loving heart. David was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Suffragan Bishop Art L. Ladd, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Bernice Sutton; Aunt, Gloria Sutton. Those who survived to cherish the sweet memories of David: parents, Elder Darryl R. Ladd, Sr., and Saundra Ladd; two brothers: Darryl Ladd, Jr (Shareese); Michael Ladd; paternal grandmother, Marva Ladd; maternal grandfather, Fred Sutton, Sr.; two nephews, Braylen and Darryl III; and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that cards and letters of condolence be sent to the family at: 11901 Blue Moon Ave, OKC, OK 73162.
