I played ball with Norman at what was then Central State University. Having been raised in Edmond in the 50s and 60s, I had not had much opportunity to engage with people of a different race than me. Norman was a talented athlete, but he was an even more talented and respectful gentleman. He was quiet but friendly and did his job. That made him easy to like because with my upbringing I tried to do the same thing. We were not close friends, but we were friends and I respected him. May you feel his loving presence as you grieve his loss.
